About Dave
With a lifelong passion for the arts, Dave’s journey has encompassed illustration, graphic design, photography, and music. Initially pursuing illustration at OCAD, he transitioned through roles in graphic design, the food industry, and IT/web development, all the while nurturing his creative pursuits. Today, Dave focuses on urban and street photography, capturing the vibrant colors and life of cities, morning, noon and night. He also loves to get out to the trails, and countrysides and of course, the beach, to get my fix of sunrises, sunsets and all avenues of landscape photography. Dave is highly skilled at capturing events, both posed and candid.
Dave loves to create art. Painting and drawing across various mediums. He’s always open to new artistic opportunities, from commissioned artworks to family or corporate photoshoots, and even musical collaborations.
Dave has always had a deep passion for the arts—whether it’s painting, drawing, photography, or music. He initially pursued his love for illustration at OCAD, but a dislike for formal schooling led him to a job as a graphic artist at a sign-making company. He then transitioned into the food industry, where he worked for 16 years. In 2001, he shifted careers again, this time to IT and web development, a path he followed for 20 years.
Throughout those years in both food and tech, Dave kept returning to drawing and painting and eventually picked up a new camera to photograph subjects for his artwork. Photography quickly became more than just a tool—it turned into a serious hobby and side business!
Dave’s true passion behind the camera is street photography, especially capturing the vibrant colors, people, and life of the city at night. But his interests don’t stop there—he loves shooting just about anything, from sunrises and sunsets to architecture, wildlife, sports, events, and candid moments.
In terms of painting and drawing, Dave is known to enjoy switching between different mediums, from watercolor and gouache to oil and acrylic. While there’s still a love for drawing, there’s something exhilarating about getting paint on canvas or paper and working with energy and spontaneity. It appears like he’ll never settle on just one medium—he enjoys the variety too much!
